Class on 8/26/15

Role Call. "What did you eat for breakfast?"

Review of Homework page 15- Simple Sentence construction and Subject Verb Agreement

Use last class's movie list/images and write a first draft of paragraph. Student used on of the following:
a) ______________________ is my favorite movie for many reasons.
b) When I think about my favorite movie I always remember this vivid scene.
c) Create your own intro

Students then exchanged paragraphs and corrected for he following:
  • Capitals
  • Subject Verb Agreement
  • and double check spelling of five words minimum
Paragraphs were returned to their authors (see homework below


Grammar 2 Review: Simple past and Imperative

Workbook: whole class read through of page 16

Homework: Complete page Practice 8 and 9 on pages 17 and 18
                    Re-write and add to your Favorite Movie paragraph

Class on 8/18/15

Class Summary

Introductions
Students formed groups of 4, made introductions and tried to find one commonality and one difference. Students picked one representative to report out.

Review of Syllabus

Discussion Groups
Students talked in pairs to have honest discussion of when and where they will study and what computer they will use to write and print assignments for class.

Review of standard Introductory Paragraph (Chapter 1 of Longman) and review of capitalization rules and correcting the sample paragraph. Students tried to find all 27 capitalization errors.



Homework:

1. Write an introductory paragraph about yourself. Use a computer and print up your draft for class on Monday

2. Answer this question: At the beginning of class students were asked to share their favorite what?
    Email your answer to Garth.
