Class on 8/27/14

Students did Total Physical Recall warm up. The exercise is a like the game "Simon Says."

Students practiced introducing themselves to their fellow students. The exercise ended with students answering the following question: Who did you meet? I met....

Students got their corrected paragraphs back. Whole class reviewed typical errors.

Paragraph Rules:

1. Indent!
2. General introduction (not specific)
3. Focus!! One theme, idea.
4. Punctuation, capitals and spelling
5. Give it an ending (Finally, At last, In the end, - Opinion or Summary

Instructor gave several rules for oral Presentations:

Summary: body language is the most important!

Each student practiced coming up to the front of class and introducing themselves.

Students read from the Workbook and did exercise from page 1 to 5

Remember no class on Monday!

Homework:
1.Write a paragraph about your favorite pet. Start with general sentence then get specific. Use colors and smells and sounds.
2. Listen to Pharell Williams's Happiness
3. Choose one song in English that you want to "Study." Know the title and the Artist. One Example: "Hotel California" by the Eagles.

Class on 8/25/14

Question:

What color was Garth's shirt?


Class Practiced writing and reading simple autobiographical sentences.

Students read through and asked questions regarding the class syllabus.

Students read a simple paragraph about the instructors weekend. Then the class analyzed the paragraph and wrote 4 rules for paragraphs. Then students tried to use those rules and the model paragraph to write their own paragraph about the weekend.

Go to the blog and answer the question (above). Email me the answer (email address is on your syllabus).
