Class on 1/29/14

Students Practiced with various verbs for eating and drinking.

Students wrote 5 sentences about what they ate for lunch.

Students read a short essay on Goal Setting (page 6 in the Ventures: Transitions).

The instructor discussed the definition of a paragraph and wrote out 5 rules for writing paragraphs in ESL 911. Students read selected paragraphs from the essay and discussed if they followed the rules of paragraphs and the theme or topic of each.

Class on 1/27/14

Students practiced answers in class to the following questions:

Are you hungry?
How are you?
Do you feel cold?

Review of simple present and simple past of To Be:

Students created three statements about themselves and then three questions. They then talked to two other students

Surveys: Students were assigned various questions and interviewed/questioned 5 or more students for their answers.

What did you do last weekend?

Review of simple past tense verbs (spelling and pronunciation):

eat      ate
go      went
have   had
talk     talked
play    played
make  made
cook   cooked
visit    visited
walk   walked
drive   drove

Homework: Write ten sentences to describe your family. Follow your own definition of family. Turn in your homework on paper.

Introductions:
Students used a template to introduce themselves.

Syllabus:
Whole class reviewed the syllabus while the instructor asked questions regarding its content

Interviews;
Students were given 4 questions. They then interviewed another student. They then reported their findings to the whole class.


Homework:
Email your teacher and answer the following question: "What color was Garth's shirt?"
